Brogue CE Android brings the minimalist, turn-based dungeon crawl of Brogue Community Edition to touch-first Android devices.
A classic roguelike, rebuilt for touch
- Preserves Brogue's original simulation, procedural dungeons, saves, recordings, and tile/text modes.
- A responsive portrait and landscape layout keeps the dungeon readable without squashing the classic tile ratio.
- A large directional controller provides eight-way movement and wait without requiring a physical keyboard.
- Action tabs surface mobile-friendly commands for movement, exploration, items, information, display, and system actions.
- Explore mode uses directional navigation so you can move the inspection cursor and read what is under it.
- Inventory, item details, messages, prompts, help, and other menus use dedicated touch-sized screens with Back/Cancel controls.
- Adjustable map zoom and a landscape controller-side swap let you tune the layout to your device.
- Android Back, safe-area insets, rotation, background/resume, renderer recreation, saves, and replay playback are handled by the mobile host.
What changed in this Android port
- Replaced the desktop canvas chrome with a Brogue-themed mobile presentation layer.
- Added the Oryx-inspired GUI font sheet for consistent headings, buttons, stats, and menus.
- Corrected the map viewport to render the 128:232 tile aspect ratio at every zoom level.
- Added mobile-only controls while keeping the desktop SDL/keyboard presentation intact.
Install
Download the Android APK below. Android 8.0 or newer is required. If Android asks, allow your browser or file manager to install unknown apps, then open the APK and tap Install.

This is an unofficial Android adaptation maintained in the public GitHub fork of Brogue CE. Brogue CE is free software under the AGPL-3.0 license. The original game, artists, and contributors remain credited in the source. This port is not endorsed by the upstream project.

Sound FX sliders doesn't work. with every step there is this klick sound which i was about to to reduce with the sliders, which was not taken into account.
The window that appears when prompted, e.g., whether one wants to jump into the chasm or not, is positioned much too high. It would be cool if it were positioned a little lower so it could be reached with the thumbs. Of course, it's possible to accidentally answer a question in this window, since you're moving around.
I have nothing else to complain about. The game is heading in the right direction. One question: is it possible to implement diagonal movement, like moving around corners, on doors or similar surfaces? Im not sure to ask this question, because it's not in keeping with the spirit of Brogue, but I did it anyway 😃
It won't install. After clicking "install anyway," the system gives me a message saying it won't install. Iam with Samsung A36.
